Know who is attending
Confirm the practitioner’s name and, for registered Massage Therapy, verify registration independently. Ask how you will be notified if a different person is proposed. A booking platform’s name is not the identity of the person at the door. Keep a record of the accepted appointment and price.
Agree the arrival process
Provide accurate directions privately and arrange a contact method if the visitor cannot enter. You can choose to have another person present. Discuss pets, smoking, equipment access and anything else that affects the working environment. Do not leave an unsecured door open solely because someone may arrive within a broad window.
Retain control during the visit
Permission to enter is not consent to treatment. The practitioner should explain the plan, provide appropriate privacy and respect a request to stop. If the identity or service differs from what was agreed, resolve it before proceeding. A home appointment should use the same clarity about boundaries and care as a clinic visit.
A practical comparison
Hypothetical planning example: A different person arrives from the one named in the confirmation and cannot explain the substitution. The client can pause admission and verify directly through the established booking contact. An address and payment do not oblige someone to continue with an unidentified visitor. For an RMT service, check the actual individual’s registration as needed. Clear identification protects the client without requiring publication of personal information about either person.
